Chassis based ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer) module A reconfigurable OADM module for use in the A4000 chassis. Each module occupies 2 slots in the A4000 chassis. These units multiplex/demultiplex 8 optical add/drop ports enabling remote reconfiguration of the network. The module also includes power monitoring and VOA (Variable Optical Attenuator) functionality on the composite and add ports to enable dynamic load balancing of amplifiers within the network. When used in conjunction with the AM2502 controller card, these modules can be remotely controlled via the EMS/SNMP/Telnet interface. Alarm thresholds can be set on each port and automatic signal leveling on the add ports. Two versions are available, optimized for either network core or edge applications, with 50 or 100GHz channel spacing. The edge version allows one wavelength to be dropped per client. The core version allows any wavelength to be switched to any port, with multiple wavelengths dropped per port.
