Designed for operation as part of the Point SystemTM, a full range of Ethernet based media converters and Network Interface Devices (NIDs) are available. The NIDs provide remote OAM/IP based management. Transmission is fully compliant to the 10Base-FL Ethernet, 100Base-FX Fast Ethernet or 1000Base-X Gigabit Ethernet standard. MEF 9 and 14 versions are certified for Carrier Ethernet applications. Incorporating an SC, ST or LC duplex interface (SFP), these media converters are designed to operate on all types of multimode and singlemode fibre in accordance with ISO11801. Versions are also available with an SFP interface, allowing total network flexibility.

(1) Bi-directional versions are available which enable the simple doubling of network capacity due to the use of a single fibre. (2) Redundant fibre interface versions which ensure complete network stability and reliability. When failure occurs on the primary fibre, it is detected by the converter and automatically sitches to the secondary link. (3) Bridging media converter can also force 10Mb/s applications onto 100Mb/s links. (4) Bridging media converter can also force 10/100Mb/s applications onto 1Gb/s links. (5) Suitable for protected outdoor environments from -40 to 65degC. (6) Converts from multimode to singlemode fibre operation. (7) Extend 20km singlemode operation by a further 20 to 40km on singlemode fibre. (8) Extend 2km multimode operation by a further 2km on multimode fibre. (9) Bridging media converter can also force 100Mb/s applications onto 1Gb/s links. (10) Integrated fibre tap to monitor critical network elements.
