Chassis Based Monitor A complete range of Ethernet network monitoring cards which are based on an integrated fibre tap which links into a 1000Base-SX tap port allowing a complete copy of the network traffic to be monitored. Designed for operation as part of the Point SystemTM , these devices provide remote OAM/IP based management. Transmission is fully compliant to the 10Base-FL Ethernet, 100Base-FX Fast Ethernet or 1000Base-X Gigabit Ethernet standard. MEF 9 and 14 versions are certified for Carrier Ethernet applications. Incorporating SC duplex interfaces, these media converters are designed to operate on all types of multimode and singlemode fibre in accordance with ISO11801. Versions are also available with an SFP interface, allowing total network flexibility.
For full details of the POINT system chassis, please refer to the Chassis Section of Transmission Equipment Standalone Optical Channel Monitor An ultra high performance solution which monitors all DWDM channels (50 or 100GHz spaced) at data rates which are operating up to 40Gb/s. The optical characteristics (wavelength, power and OSNR) over the entire C band are updated every 1 second and stores data collected over 15 minute intervals for a period of 7 days. The unit is 1U high and is designed to be mounted in a 19" rack, driven from a -48V DC power supply. The unit may be specified with four monitors, each operating independently. These channels can be used to monitor both eastbound and westbound traffic simultaneously.
Remote provisioning is via an EMS/SNMP/Telnet interface with local management via the craft port, which is an RS-232 asynchronous interface. The EMS version provides a graphical depiction of the network's current status, including channel power and OSNR. When used in conjuction
with the AM4025 ROADM and A15xx multiplexers, remote network reconfiguration
can be achieved based on changing conditions within the network. The OCM
allows each network segment to be viewed in order to determine which
wavelengths are currently in use.
